Which operating systems does WorkMonitor support?
The native agent is in Private beta on macOS today; Windows and Linux agents exist but are still In development, and mobile is only Planned. There's no installable build for it yet.
What this means for you
- macOS (Apple silicon and Intel): Private beta. This is the fully-built native menu-bar agent: screen, foreground app, and activity level, with a permanent tray indicator. This is what's ready to install and use day to day.
- Windows (10 / 11, x64): In development. The native tray agent builds from source today; signed installers are on the way, and the native input hooks still need real-world verification on Windows.
- Linux (X11): In development. The native agent is a small binary with no runtime dependency. It has a Qt tray with the same permanent capture indicator as the Mac, and CI builds and tests it on every change. It packages as a single AppImage: there is no
.debor.rpm, and none is planned right now. On Wayland it captures nothing yet, not screenshots, not the active app, not idle time. The X11 calls still succeed there (through Xwayland) but return a black screen, an active window of "Unknown" and an idle time of zero, so the agent refuses to report any of it rather than making a working person look idle. Use an Xorg session; native Wayland capture needs the PipeWire portals, which aren't built yet. - Browser extension: Private beta. It builds for Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, and CI checks all four on every change, but it is not in any store yet, so there is nothing to install from one. It's a separate, lighter capture surface: it reports the site (the domain only, never the page's path, query, or content) that the desktop agent itself can't see, and it enrolls as its own browser device under you.
- Mobile (iOS & Android): Planned. The native app hasn't started. Nothing is installable yet; what it will eventually need (GPS clock-in and geofenced job sites) already exists on the backend, ready for when the app arrives.
