Submit a timesheet
Submit your week's draft timesheet so it opens an approval chain and is ready for a decision.
Who this is for
Anyone can submit their own timesheet. No special permission is needed. Submitting someone else's on their behalf needs the permission that manages time, which the Owner and Manager roles carry by default.
Before you start
The timesheet has to be a draft. Only a draft can be submitted. If nothing exists yet for the week, build one first: an empty week offers a Build draft button, or use Build draft / Recompute draft / Rebuild draft in the page header.
Steps
- Open Timesheets. It defaults to your own timesheet; use the member picker at the top if you're submitting on someone else's behalf.
- Choose the week with the week picker.
- Select the week's draft timesheet from the list.
- Review the time ledger for the period.
- Select Submit for approval.
What happens next
The timesheet moves from Draft to Submitted and opens its approval chain, ready for a manager's decision. It can't be submitted again until that decision is made. If it's rejected, its entries stay editable. Correct them and rebuild the draft to resubmit.
If it doesn't work
- If you try to submit on someone else's behalf without the permission that manages time, you'll see a "Not permitted" toast: *"Approving timesheets requires a manager role."* (The same message covers every manager-gated action on this screen, not only approving.)
- If the request fails for another reason, the toast reads "Couldn't submit" with the server's own message, or, when your session itself is the problem: *"Your session may have expired, or you lack access to this record."*
