WorkMonitor for contractor teams
Pay for contractor hours you can actually verify
Hours from contractors and freelancers on the same ledger as staff, proof attached to every invoice, and a capture scope narrow enough that you are not ingesting another client’s data.
Free for two seats, no card.

Rollout
Bringing a contractor bench onto one record
- 1
Start from the jurisdiction
A contractor in another country is another legal regime. Capture policy is per region, and there is written guidance for 32 of them.
- 2
Narrow the scope on purpose
On a machine you do not own, the deny-list is the whole argument. Denied applications are never captured, not captured and hidden.
- 3
Put them on the same ledger
Append-only timesheets, the same multi-stage approval with separation of duties, and the same rate engine that prices staff.
- 4
Attach the proof to the invoice
Finalizing seeds a Verified Work Certificate the payer verifies on a public page, which is a better answer than screenshots for both sides.
Trust-me invoicing vs. evidence neither side has to trust

The invoice
With WorkMonitor
A certificate the payer checks on a public page, with only the fields the contractor discloses.
Contractor management today
A number and a description, disputed by email if at all.
Two populations, two systems
With WorkMonitor
One ledger, one approval chain, one rate engine.
Contractor management today
Staff in one tool, the bench in a spreadsheet, reconciled before every close.
A machine you do not own
With WorkMonitor
Per-app deny-lists applied on the device, consent recorded against a policy version per jurisdiction.
Contractor management today
Capture everything, and hope the contract covers what you collected.
Inflated hours
With WorkMonitor
Integrity signals that flag simulated input and downgrade any proof built on it, with the raw activity attached.
Contractor management today
Screenshots somebody scrolls through hoping to spot something.
What the contractor keeps
With WorkMonitor
A verified work history they own, employer co-signed, with its own public verifier, in beta.
Contractor management today
Nothing. The record belongs to the client and disappears with the contract.
Rates and budgets
With WorkMonitor
Rate cards per client and per role, with burn-down against the budget as work lands.
Contractor management today
Agreed in a thread, applied from memory.

What a contractor bench gets to work with

The status meeting, already written
Status is normally assembled by asking. Here it is already: hours, activity, attendance and risk on one board, for one person or the whole company. Set the thresholds once and it tells you who needs you.
Jobs to be done
The jobs a contractor bench runs here
- Prove work with certificatesA finalized invoice mints a signed certificate the client checks for themselves. Selective disclosure proves the work without handing over the work.
- Track time automaticallyNo timer to start, no Friday reconstruction. Idle is split out rather than estimated, and approved hours reach payroll and invoicing without a re-key.
- Bill defendable client hoursBudgets that burn down while you can still move somebody, rate-card billing off captured hours, and an invoice the client verifies without asking you for anything.
- Monitor legally & stay compliantVersioned consent, a capture scope that cannot quietly widen, retention and DSAR handling, and written guidance for 32 jurisdictions before you roll out in one.
Where you operate
Contractor monitoring law, by country
- United KingdomThe ICO's 2023 monitoring guidance is the operative document, and it expects a DPIA.
- GermanyThe works council holds a veto, and a productivity dashboard is enough to trigger it.
- PolandThe Labour Code lists the permitted purposes, and productivity is not one of them.
- IndiaDPDP gives employment a legitimate use, but automated monitoring is argued to sit outside it.
- BrazilThe ANPD is sceptical of legitimate interest in employment. Transparency carries the weight.
- Canada (federal)Reasonableness is the statutory test, and the OPC applies a four-part necessity analysis.
Straight answers
The questions we would ask in your position
Every answer here is the one you would get on a call. Open as many as you like; they stay open, so two can be held side by side.
Most do once the certificate is on the table, because it is as useful to them as to you: proof the hours were real when an invoice is queried. The rest is settled by two practical things, a self-view of what was collected and per-app deny-lists that keep their other clients out of the record, which is also what keeps that material off your systems.
Per-app privacy deny-lists are applied on the device before anything is transmitted, so named applications never enter the record. Combined with capture policies scoped to the engagement, what is collected is explicit rather than incidental.
Approved hours feed payroll runs on the same ledger as staff, so the arrangement does not require a second system. Payroll connectors carry the result into what you already pay from.
No. It attests that a period of work happened and what was covered. It is not a screenshot bundle. The verifier returns whether the attestation holds, which is what an invoice dispute needs and nothing more.

Take these with you
The software is the easy part of a rollout
Here is what we would send a manager doing one for the first time: how to read a productivity number, what to say to a remote team before anything is installed, and a policy you can adopt as written.
Point it at one team for a week.
Create the account, put the agent on a handful of desks, and leave it alone. On Friday you read the week instead of reconstructing it: hours against their projects, focus and idle per person, and the timesheets already filled in.
Free for two seats. No card, and no sales call to sit through.
