Give or withdraw consent for a signal
Grant or withdraw your consent for any signal that needs it, and withdrawing pauses that capture immediately.
Who this is for
Every member. Consent is always your own. You decide for yourself, and nobody can grant or withdraw it on your behalf, even a manager or owner.
Before you start
Only signals that actually need your permission appear on this list at all. WorkMonitor calls these consent-gated. Screenshots is the best-known example. Anti-cheat scanning is consent-gated too, and is treated exactly like screenshots: it stays off until your organization turns it on and you separately consent. If your organization isn't asking for anything right now, the page reads "Nothing needs your consent" instead of a list.
Steps
- Open What We See.
- Find the card for the signal you want to change. It shows the signal's name, how sensitive it is, and whether your organization currently has it turned on.
- Use the switch on the card to change your decision. The card's status text below the switch reads "Granted" or "Not granted", so you can always see where you stand.
What happens next
Your decision saves immediately, and a toast confirms it: "Consent granted for [signal]" (*"WorkMonitor may capture this while your organization has it on"*), or "Consent withdrawn for [signal]" (*"WorkMonitor will not capture this, even if your organization has it on."*). Withdrawing pauses the related capture right away; it doesn't wait for anything else to change. Once you've granted consent, the card also shows "Consent given [when]", and every decision is recorded, so there's always an honest history of what you agreed to and when.
If it doesn't work
If the save fails, you'll see a "Consent not saved" toast with the reason, and your switch reverts to its last real state. Nothing changes without a confirmed save. If the underlying problem is that you're signed out, the toast reads "Your session may have expired. Try signing in again."
